Project 1a - Physical Collage :

In order to create our own custom collages, Mr Martin has asked us to gather pictures from magazines, newspapers, or any other printed materials. We can choose the size of our canvas and there is no predetermined theme.

1. Pre - compositions

Fig 1.1 Pre composition 1 collage

I placed the lady as a main figure in the center of the composition, while the other cutouts were placed on the sides as accents. A flower bush was placed underneath the figure's back, as if the figure was sitting on top of the bush, and the other cutouts were moved according to the color balance.

Fig 1.2 Pre composition 2 collage

I changed the order a bit by placing a figure doing a substantial movement in the center of the composition, while the other cutouts were placed on the sides as accents. Also had one hand and one eye placed in the shape of being held

Fig1.3 Pre -composition 3 collage

I used a medieval woman as the main character and cut cutouts of Van Gogh paintings to cover the lady's eyes to create a mysterious feeling, also used some floral cutouts to place on the lady's chest as well as behind her head as an embellishment on the dress, and used vintage magazine text as the background.

Final Composition

In the end, I chose this as my final piece because I felt the cutouts were evenly distributed and more thematic.

2.
Project 1B - Digital Imaging (Me in Hearst Mansion) :

Our lecturer let us using Adobe Photoshop to do this exercise so that we could practise a variety of abilities, including combining numerous photographs into one final image and recoloring them. presenting them as a photo that doesn't contradict itself.

1.Following tutorial outcome

Fig 2.1 Photo Manipulation Shazam

I followed the steps for my project based on my lecturer's instruction video, and photoshopped Shazam into a Hearst mansion. I learned how to create reflections and shadows while making them blend naturally into the background image. Making them look like a good photograph.

2. Self Edit

Fig 2.2 Original Self Image

Fig 2.3 Me in Hearst Mansion process

I took a full body shot of myself and chose the angle of the sunlight coming in from the left side because in the hearst mansion the sunlight comes in from the left side as well, and I chose a white background because lecturer said white backgrounds are easier to edit.

3.
Project 1c - Digital Imaging (Recolouring Black & White )  :

1. Following tutorial outcome

Fig 3.1 Tutorial recolouring

I was able to recolouring better of black-and-white image because I carefully followed the lecturer's step-by-step directions. I was able to improve my knowledge of colouring and tinting black-and-white photographs thanks to this practise.

2. Self Pick

I recolouring the image i choose in a relatively vintage color to match the medieval feel of the character.

FEEDBACK

Week 2
-For physical collage, there was a bit of confusion about what the theme was, so I made an extra collage and focused in on the main character to make the overall look more sensible

Week 3
-For the Hearst Tower exercise, because the subject was so large, the quality of my photo and the background were different, so it was suggested that I reduce the size of the figures , to make the image look more coherent.

Week 4
-For the recolouring exercise ,overall is good.

REFLECTIONS

Experience
I attempted my first attempt at any kind of photo modification, which required the fundamental abilities I had picked up over the preceding few weeks.
Since I'm still a beginner with Photoshop, completing this exercise was a little complex because I found it a little challenging to locate all the tools and features.
Even though I spent some time attempting to decide what I wanted to do, having some fundamental Photoshop skills helped me finish the task.
The process of coming up with potential ingredients for a combination took a long time.

Findings
Finding all the options wasn't too difficult, but I will need more time to fully comprehend what each function or action accomplishes. The time needed to perform this task decreased after learning where and what each function does.In comparison to the first time I used Photoshop, it didn't take as long once I knew what I wanted to achieve.I spent a lot of time pacing up and down the hallways of my house looking for stuff that I enjoy and find intriguing to use for this project.A photo shoot requires a lot of planning, and I use both natural and artificial lighting to make sure my pictures are beautiful.

Observations
After getting on the dpi. I discovered more of my own possibilities and creativity, and learned skills I hadn't been exposed to before, and became more proficient at using them, and more comfortable with photoshop, and with art!
