Pick a story from the website that is connected. Divide the narrative of
the selected story into three acts, beginning with the introduction and
ending with the epilogue. Then, make a digital triptych with three panels
that depicts each act.
Think about and incorporate any intriguing twists in the narratives of
each act.
Alternately, you could draw attention to any significant icons or
symbolism present in these behaviours.
To pique readers' interest, consider outlining the story's premise in
advance.
PROJECT 3
Story Chosen : A Descent Into The Maelstrom
Central Characters - Fisherman
Major Theme - Man vs Nature
Story Brief :
Act I
The narrator and an old fisherman climb a mountain overlooking the sea,
where a
gigantic whirlpool called the Maelström is located. The fisherman tells
the narrator that
he was once caught in the Maelström and survived, and offers to tell him
his story. He
sets up the main conflict of the story: his struggle to escape from the
vortex of death.
Act II
The fisherman recounts how he and his two brothers went fishing on a
calm day,
unaware of the approaching storm and the Maelström. He describes how their
boat was
swept into the whirlpool, and how his brothers were killed by the waves
and rocks. He
explains how he observed the patterns and movements of the Maelström, and
how he
used his intelligence and courage to save himself. He reveals how he tied
himself to a
barrel and threw it into the water, hoping to float out of the whirlpool.
Act IlI
The fisherman describes how he endured the horrors of the Maelström,
and how
he miraculously escaped from it. He tells how he was rescued by another
boat, but how
his hair turned white and his body aged from the shock. He reflects on the
lessons he
learned from his experience, and how he admires rather than fears the
Maelström. The
story ends with the narrator and the fisherman watching the sunset over
the sea, and
the narrator expressing his awe and gratitude for the fisherman's story.
